Hello!
I'm on my first annual leave since changing my job role and, thanks to how the rota there lands, I have quite a bit of time off.
I went to go and pick up my new glasses (as my left eye was getting visual migraine and auras - only heard today that's what they're called - and it had become weaker), then me and my fella went and bought our outfits for a wedding we're going to in two weeks. We did a bit of shopping and I got some more wool for my blanket I'm making (just for fun), and a pair of new headphones.
Yesterday, Thursday, I stayed at home while my fella went to work, and started on my books.
I'd been only dabbling in them recently, which has been quite frustrating. I was bogged down with my day job change, then feeling quite disconnected from things, which made thinking constructively about plots and characters kind of difficult. So yesterday, I got some scrap paper and wrote down what I actually wanted to write.
Then I started with the first on the list:
Write a plan for first book of ****(title of series)****
Sorry, I can't share that title with you yet, only because I want to make sure I finish this one, and if I don't then I'll feel bad if you are interested in reading it.
And I just got more scrap paper and wrote out an idea from scratch (as I had a setting, but no story) and then a very basic plot outline.
Then I wrote it in the notebook that I'd put aside for it, making it clearer and more understandable.
Then, I started writing the first scene.
And did 701 words.
I think, for me, this just shows how having space to work on my books is so important to how much I can write/come up with. For several weeks I struggled, especially when my day job was so awful and I had to change my position there to a different role. On top of that, the stress of it started to cause migraines and I kept feeling like I was coming down with the flu.
Knowing I've got time off to get some things I enjoy done has really created a more positive space for me to work and it's already paying off in just ONE DAY!
Today is Friday, and I'm charging my little laptop up ready to carry on with it. I've popped some washing on, had a shower to wake up a bit more and I'm going to get cracking once I've had some breakfast.
I can't wait to share more about this new book. Although, I will say I haven't pushed the others aside.
They are on my list too!
